On May 26th (just last week!), President Obama made his first selection for the Supreme Court of the United States. We know that Judge Sonia Sotomayor has a textbook American Dream life story – just ask Jon Stewart. But there are plenty of people calling her a racist.
Sure, growing up in the housing projects of the Bronx gives one perspective, and her single mother’s focus on education got Sotomayor far – private Catholic school, Princeton undergrad, and Yale Law. And of course, many people are saying she is an expert legal critic and analyst. But does that make a good Supreme Court Justice? I admit, I don’t really know, but here are some opinions on Sotomayor from around the web:

Judge Sonia Sotomayor – who is currently serving as a circuit judge for the 2nd District Court of Appeals – will make her way through the confirmation process over the next few months. She was nominated to replace Justice David Souter, who submitted his resignation on May 1st. If confirmed, she would be the first Latino/a Supreme Court Justice, and only the 3rd woman to serve on the court – in addition to becoming the 6th Catholic Justice out of 9 on the court!

Our very own CEO, Tristan Harris, will be demoing Apture (including a few surprises) at the NY Tech Meetup tonight. This is a great opportunity for us, and we hope you can join him there along with some other fantastic companies to see great technology, do some networking, and maybe have a drink at the bar. The Meetup starts at 7pm at New World Stages – a new venue for the Meetup.

We’d like to thank Nate Westheimer, the NY Tech Meetup organizer, for including us in the lineup. It’s going to be an exciting night for everyone; hope to see you there! If you’d like to meet up with Tristan but can’t make the Meetup, @apture or @tristanharris to let us know!
Today is another good day here at Apture. In case you haven’t seen it elsewhere – like Mashable – we’re happily announcing that Reuters is using Apture on its site. Here’s what Liesel Kipp from Reuters had to say about us in our press release:
“As an online publisher, we are always looking for ways to enrich our users’ experience and engage our audience. Apture’s technology allows us to leverage the depth and breadth of our content in new and innovative ways.”
Of course, we couldn’t agree more – and we’re really excited about this next partnership with a global leader in news and information. This offers a great advantage to readers of Reuters, providing them with additional dimension and breadth on Reuters’ already-fantastic content.
Are we reaching a tipping point in the way that people access and interact with information online? We’re a little biased and optimistic, but we do think so. There are already some great examples of Apture on Reuters; please share your favourites with us in the comments!
