What is Auto Enhance?

Andrew Machado

Since ProBlogger’s great post about How To Use Apture we have been receiving a wealth of emails and questions about Apture’s feature set.  Well today I wanted to talk a little bit about what is Apture Auto Enhance.

Apture Hero

What is Auto Enhance?

Auto Enhance is the quickest way to use Apture on your site.  You simply check one box when either registering or if you already have Apture simply Login.

Once enabled outbound links to popular sites are automatically enhanced with Apture so your readers can view the contents of the outbound link without leaving your site.  You have to do zero additional effort while writing your posts for this feature to work and you get all of the SEO benefit of outbound links.

What Can Auto Enhance Do For You?

Instead of your users leaving your site when you link to an article about Seal, they can simply view it right on your site.

Maybe you wanted to link your user to the Twitter Stream of Chris Johnson, the best running back in the National Football League.

Or better yet you saw a great commercial the other night for Avatar and wanted your reader’s to see it without having to embed the video on your blog.

What Content can Apture Auto Enhance?

WikipediaTwitterFlickrLinkedInHuluScribd and many others.

Find out how to Enable Auto Enhance here or if you do not have Apture installed on your blog we can solve that.

I love Apture, and the Auto Enchance is one of my favorite features, especially because it makes my other favorite service Zemanta work even better. Honestly at this point I think I would cry if either you folks or the Z team were to disappear.

Great post. Can’t wait to read it. I’ve been using Apture for almost a year now on all four of my Blogger blogs. Do you think you could do a post on some of the problems associated with Blogger-Apture-user ‘previous post’ and ’search site’ not working. I’m getting so many compliments about Apture that I really don’t have much to complain about (i’m just cc’ing this around, as Andrew might not be able to get around to it personally); but is there something you could mention about having to ‘reset personal preferences’ each time the same user logs in after computer restart.

And finally, is there some reason that Apture on Tumblr shows that its script has been installed correctly but goes to ’set-up mode’ each time the user logs on only to receive notification that it’s installed, at which time a user can utilize Apture across computer session, but then upon reloggin has to go through the steps again.

just little things, but I know since Apture guys are busy and can’t get around to it, i thought maybe another user might be able to help. I’ve suggested assigning some of the messy day-to-day customer service tasks to an Apture intern or other low-level employee simply for the sake of good PR but it’s like trying to get a first time loan, you have to already have good credit…and haven’t received any response.

I’m still trying to experiment patiently after a year, but I’m afraid without savvy computer experience, it looks like there are just some things that should be left to the pros. I guess they call that job security. All the best, and thanks again for what the rest of the early Apture users have known all along: Apture makes blogging fun again! And I hope it just keeps getting better and better over what I suspect will be a very long career as the premiere developer of blooming-link enhancement (which at first, I thought sounded too much like an herpes outbreak but which after awhile kind of grows on you–It’s got a Joycean ring to it!

And while I’m ashamed to gush and complain in the same comment, it’s only because I love Apture so much. It’s an honor and privilege to get to use Apture…AND FOR FREE. It’s not like I’m one of your major media outlets and can shoot you off a nasty email or bluff his way into a response it’s just that feeling loyalty like I do and at the same time enjoying knowing things are all in working order, I suppose it’s just for sentimental reasons that I’d like to tie up the loose ends.

I hope one of your readers can offer a suggestion on any of the above issues I’m having with wonderful Apture which is free btw, and while I realize that you won’t be paid either for your advice, I will forever be indebted, and hereby offer anyone who may be able to help a free link on any or all of my blogs which you may consider good indefinitely.

I like this part the best: “I think there are two reasons why bloggers are slow to embrace Apture. Firstly, bloggers don’t know how to use Apture. Which is hardly surprising, seeing that Apture lacks a user guide and tutorials. Not only does Apture lack information on how to use it, the team manages to hide some of the best features – which is an interesting kind of reverse-marketing.” –http://www.problogger.net/archives/2009/10/19/how-to-use-apture/

Just wanted to stop by and thank you for this plugin. I remember coming to your site a year or so back and i believe it was a pay plugin.

Happy that it’s been released to the public to use. Thank you.
