How To Add Additional Video Channels to Apture

Andrew Machado

By default Apture includes Videos from YouTube, Reuters, Truveo, Dailymotion, Comedy Central, ESPN, Metavid, Hulu and imeem in the search results.

But you can add in additional content from your own YouTube Channel, Glam videos and even MTV.

1.  Open the Apture Media Hub

2.  Click the Customize Sources Button

3.  Click on Videos and freely add and remove different Video Sources

Please fix this post. You have set up the pop up to overlay it on top of the Apture Blog’s search window. This imposes a consequence on everyone else – denying them the ability to “search” the blogs.

Hey Barry,

I shrunk the video a bit so it didn’t block the search box.

i actually have an important question/suggestion.

So when you changed the search title from MTV to MTV Video, was there a reason or benefit to doing so?

The main problem I’ve encountered with the lack of in depth information from Apture’s cursory albeit informative video instructionals and posts is their lack of information for users who have moved past the setup phase and who are interested in tweaking, refining and utilizing Apture to its fullest. One of these subjects which could use this type of explanation is indeed: Setting up Apture User Search Preference. I have experimented trying to fine tune this feature of Apture, and have only been successful when successful at all by a hit and miss process of elimination,

eg., setting up a search for some sites will work but, will only deliver links, while other sites will deliver the content that most of us who use Apture want: photos, articles and embedded results which even if adding as a link will enhance a post by its Apture bloom, compared to a dead link–and of course, no one wants to embed a link when they could embed this other content.

The information is just not there, and No Satisfaction and Twitter, while great for most users is not addressing these issues by virtue of their format.

How about it? A little transparency for older users.

And while you’re at it:

What’s up with Apture’s ultra-safe ’strict filter’? It’s ridiculously limiting. It’s difficult to even find relevant results for modern art for example. I can’t imagine how anyone would link anything edgier than that. It even seems to restrict search results beyond what Google does under their ’strict’ filtering.

How does one bypass or workaround this issue which I assume you have universally set for the benefit of Mom-Bloggers?

Thanks for your attention,

Danny
