Why Include 1 Piece of Content When You Can Include 7!

Andrew Machado

Who says you can only link to one piece of content in a hyperlink?  With Apture you can include up to 7!

We aren’t kidding. Look at the YouTube video above for Taylor Swift.  It is not just a YouTube video, because now you can learn about who Taylor Swift is, what people are saying about her on Twitter and even watch some of her other videos all within one link.  Making an embed like this with a ton of relevant content not only keep your readers more engaged, but could potentially keep them away from searching through Google for more information about Ms. Swift. Now I know what you are thinking? You said you can link to 7 items,  not embedding them on your page.  Well with Apture you can do that too.

So How Do You Build One?:

1. Start with a great piece of content by selecting it in the Apture Media Hub.  If you do not have Apture installed on your blog or site yet click here.

2.  After you have selected your main piece of content you are going to see an Add Related Items button.  Click it to add more content!

Additonal Media 2-13.  Once you click that button Apture will take you back to the search results box for you to select another piece of content.  You can add up to 6 additional links with your main item.  In this case we are going to add links to AmazonTwitter and a few other of Taylor Swift’s videos.  Once you have added all the additional content you need click Create Embed/Link.

4.  That’s it you have now built a dynamic embed or link containing up to 7 pieces of content!  Check it out below.

You will notice each one of the pieces of content above “blooms” into its own micro window allowing your readers to not only view it, but do it in a way that does not cover up what they were originally reading.

Is there any way to not bloom the info? I.e. Have it all load in the same Apture window..?

Hi Jenn,

Just some I’m clear you’d like within the main Apture window for all the content to show up there depending on which link you’ve clicked?

Currently there are not plans to implement that kind of cuntionality due to how the sizes of different media vary so much. YouTube videos are ultra wide, while Twitter feeds are not. We could investigate though and see if there is a solution that could work.

Hey Drew, thanks for the quick reply. =) Ahh. Yeah, I don’t know, I seem to have found Apture in the first place because a gallery of pictures (pictures only) loaded very prettily; but since I can’t find the original page now, I can’t remember whether they loaded all in the same window or not. XD Ah well, escape key to close is easy enough. :D
