Today we are happy to announce that we have been selected as a winner of the Special Distinction Award from the Knight-Batten Awards for Innovations in Journalism. The Knight-Batten Awards honor creative uses of new technologies to engage citizens in public issues and showcase compelling models for the future of news.
We are really excited to win this award. Jeff Jarvis recently referred to Apture as giving “the ability to make a newspaper embeddable” and with the award today we think Jeff’s idea is definitely coming to fruition. With Apture we are giving online media the ability to paste in not only profiles of politicians but rich Wikipedia content right into their articles. Not only keeping viewers on their site longer, but also furthering the amount of information their reader’s are able to consume.
Apture was born with the idea of giving online media an easy way to integrated rich multimedia content into their platform while providing their readers with a first class experience. The recognition from our peers in the community especially Jan Schaffer of J-Lab is what motivates us to continue to innovate and provide the best platform possible for not only online news outlets but our bloggers and website owners as well.
If you are in the area please come see us and the other Knight-Batten Award winners at the September 17 symposium and awards luncheon at the Newseum.
