Apture + Twitter: Bringing Lifestreams to Life

Colleen

It’s possible you’ve already seen this already – and if that’s true, great! Our plan for world domina – I mean Twitter integration – is working. Today, we at Apture are proud to announce the Apture Twitter Viewer. As you know, our mission is to enable publishers and bloggers to easily layer nearly all content types into their sites so readers can see, hear, and truly experience the ideas on the page – all without ever leaving the site. Now, with the Apture Twitter Viewer, you can share your tweets by embedding your Twitter stream and the Twitter experience on your sites – and across the web! – in context right next to relevant content.

What this means:

  • If you have Apture installed on your blog, and links to Twitter content, Apture will automagically Apturize these links – showing the Twitter stream of the @username you’ve selected. Here’s an example: @SenJohnMcCain
  • You can see linked content included in a tweet launch in an Apture window without leaving the page!
  • You can see the location of a Twitter user as an Apturized link in their Twitter user information:

  • You can follow conversations between Twitter users who use @replies, so it’s more like seeing a conversation unfold.
  • Live streams of Twitter search results will show up, so if #sxsw is in a tweet on your page, mousing over it will show the search results for SXSW from search.twitter.com.
  • All of this is also true for FriendFeed – if you’re a FriendFeed user, Apture integrates those streams too!

As you can see at www.apture.com/twitter, there’s a lot of buzz about this amazing feature already – and we’re really proud to be offering you even more access to even more content on the web. This technology is already bundled in with the Apture service, which offers you ways to link multimedia on your blog or site without your readers ever leaving your page, so if you already have Apture installed, Apture Twitter Viewer is already installed too. If you install Apture today to use the Twitter Viewer, you will also get the great service we’ve already built – you can see examples of all you can do to enhance your own content here and here.

We hope you’re excited about this new addition to the Apture feature set, but we’re not stopping there. We’ve got some great new features and enhancements in the works, so stay tuned to our blog, to our newsletter, and of course, our Twitter stream! If you have suggestions or ideas for us, we’re listening! Leave your ideas in the comments, or on Get Satisfaction. We love to hear from our users, and we’re always looking for your input in order to improve your Apture experience. Let us know what you think of the Apture Twitter Viewer!

This is a killer feature for me. Awesome idea.

Are you deliberately not Apture-izing “in reply to” links, or are there just no examples of that in the links in this post? That would be really awesome—being able to drill down into a @conversation without leaving the page.
