Everyone,
We’re very excited today to announce that Apture is partnering with SlideShare to bring you their library of hundreds of thousands of PowerPoint presentations, to easily embed in context. Just search for any topic in the Media Hub and you’ll see the new source visible in the list.
“I know some of you sometimes want to keep people on your site, and Apture is great for that,” says SlideShare CEO Rashmi Sinha at Presentation Camp:
An Exciting Content Source
Now you can combine SlideShare presentations with Apture’s other rich content sources like YouTube, Twitter, Flickr, Google Maps… all inline!
As a example, say I want to talk about the global water shortage. While a single presentation may be compelling, most people may not have the background information to understand what the water shortage is about. Instead, Apture let’s you include additional media– interactive Wikipedia guides to give background and context, and even links to Twitter searches to see what people are saying about “water shortage” right now. Click on this link (in a browser) to see an example: water shortage.
At Apture, we had already seen bloggers begin linking SlideShare content, even before we officially supported it. The Brand South Africa Blog, for example, has used Apture and SlideShare to present the country’s energy resources, including linking the presentations to podcasts. We can’t wait to see what bloggers do with this valuable new resource!
Giving SlideShare’s Publishers a New Audience
Slideshare’s content (and all the presentations uploaded by its members) will now also benefit from Apture’s vast blogger and publisher network, which includes the likes of the Washington Post and the New York Times.
If you start using SlideShare and Apture in an interesting way, send us an email at contact AT apture DOT com! We’d love to feature you on the blog.
